Tony Crane, a 20-year-old sophomore at Wilmington College in Ohio, passed away early Sunday morning, March 23, 2025, in a tragic incident at the Delta Theta Sigma fraternity house.
He was found with a fatal gunshot wound at around 12:43 a.m., and despite emergency personnel’s quick response, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Wilmington Police Department has confirmed that the investigation remains open and active as they work to determine the exact circumstances surrounding his death.
Originally from Fishers, Indiana, Tony was a beloved student-athlete, known for his dedication on the football field and his loyalty to his fraternity brothers.
Peers described him as the life of every gathering, a young man with a heart of gold, and someone who brought joy and energy wherever he went.
“He was a badass! An awesome young man with a heart of gold,” wrote Anthony Topmiller on Facebook.
Another commenter, Ashley Rose, shared, “He was so young and taken too soon.”

Wilmington College responded swiftly, canceling classes for Monday and opening counseling services for students, staff, and faculty.
